Lake Michigan is the largest lake located in one country when measured by area, and four states share borders with the incredible waterfront. The name Michigan is said to be the Ojibwe word michi-gami, which means great water, a fitting tribute to the incredible views offered by the area.

Our Lake Michigan wood lake features incredible attention to detail, including two millimeters of precision etching on depths and shorelines. The piece of lake art begins with a bathymetric chart of the region, giving an artist the topographical details they need to create this stunning wood lake map. The artist begins with laser-cut pieces of Baltic birch, each cut to the precise outline of the topographical dimensions of the shoreline and lake’s floor. Specific pieces are hand-stained for vibrance, and then the layers are glued together before points of interest are etched into the surface. Each piece of lake art is finished with a custom wood frame and arrives ready to hang.

Dream of the summers spent on Lake Michigan with this beautiful topographical map.
