Chicago is located on Lake Michigan and features a mix of eclectic art, music, and athletics. The city was founded in 1837 but was inhabited by the Potawatomi Native Americans before being officially settled by explorer Jean Baptiste Point du Sable in the 1780s. Du Sable was of French and African descent and is known as the founder of Chicago.

Our 3D wood map of Chicago is skillfully laser-cut from pieces of Baltic birch which are then glued together in the shape of the city’s coastline. A bathymetric chart identifies the depths of the Chicago Harbor, and the wood is then cut to form the vibrant beauty and depth of the landscape. Once the 3D wood map’s core is complete, an artist hand-stains the water and includes etched points of interest and other landmarks to the map’s surface. A solid wood frame and acrylic protective shield provide the finishing touches.

Bring your favorite Windy City memories home with this Chicago 3D wood map.
