Lake Placid was founded in the early 19th century, and by 1921 the area boasted the Lake Placid Club, complete with winter sports facilities and paving the way to host the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980. The area is still known for its winter sports and offers incredible hiking, fishing, and free cliff jumping.

This lake art features a beautiful mix of natural and hand-stained Baltic birch, creating depth and dimension that brings our maps to life. The topographical depths of the water are created using information from a bathymetric chart. An artist laser cuts pieces of birch into the precise shapes of the lake’s shoreline and topography, then hand-stains pieces and engraves points of interest into the surface of the wood lake. A custom wood frame and acrylic glass cover complete the map.

Bring the beauty of Lake Placid to life in your home or office with this beautiful lake art.
